SVS Living Safe

Our overarching goal is to reduce family violence thereby making families and communities safer. We do this by working with individuals and families and by working with both victims and perpetrators to produce the following outcomes/benefits in our community;

  • Male perpetrators/offenders who have accessed our service;
  • Have an increased understanding of how their behaviour affects victims and how their violence affects children
  • Understand that there is no excuse for domestic violence no matter
    what their background or cultural/religious beliefs are
  • Demonstrate a positive change in attitude and non-violent behaviour
  • Have learnt skills and increased their knowledge to manage their behaviour which had caused the violence enabling their partner/children/ family to be safer
 
Victims of violence who have accessed our service:
  • Have the knowledge and skills to plan for their own and their children’s safety
  • Show improvement in their safety and that of their children
  • Have increased confidence and ability to deal with the perpetrator’s behaviour
  • Have a more positive outlook towards themselves, their relationships and their future
  • Are more connected to their whanau and their community
 
Youth who have accessed our service:
  • An increased ability to deal with stressful and frustrating situations and managed their thoughts and feelings in a non-violent and healthy way
  • Demonstrate increased safety within themselves, relationships and the wider community
  • Have a more positive outlook towards themselves, their relationships and their future
  • Are more connected to their whanau and their community
 
Children who have accessed our service:
  • Know what to do if they feel unsafe or scared that someone will get hurt
  • Have an increased confidence to know where to go for help
  • Know that violence is not OK
  • Are safer
